RESKILLS - Assessment of Life-cycle skills and training needs in the renewable and energy efficiency sectors: the cases of the wind energy and electric mobility and smart grid sectors (2012-2014)

Proposal presented to the European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion in July 2011, but only approved in November 2012.

The aims of this study were to evaluate the qualifications and skills required and training needs in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The analysis of these needs was performed according to the life cycle of the technologies used, since the phases of planning, production and installation, to operation, maintenance and decommissioning. The chosen cases - wind (onshore and offshore) and electric mobility (including smart grids) - were of vital importance to national and European energy sector and are at different stages of technological maturity.

The partnership was composed by: Universidade Católica Portuguesa/CEPCEP (lider), CENSE (Centre for Environmental and Sustainability Research), UNL (Portugal); MOBI Research Centre (Mobility, Logistics and Automotive Technology Research Centre), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium); C3iT Research Centre (Centro de Investigación Internacional en Inteligencia Territorial), Universidad de Huelva (Spain).
